The Calyk Story 
Black Oak was established in 2015 and has since been built on friendly service, pleasurable experiences and forming relationships with all customers. 

The Calyk family have been in the hospitality business for over 13 years, with a strong passion for European food and wine to create every experience at Black Oak unforgettable.

The love of food has come from family dinners where Nana would have everyone in the kitchen. Whereas the love of wine started with learnign how to make it with older European mentors, and then creating our own with friends using their techniques. 

The Calyks have been making wine since their 2005 drop and have gone on to produce many more vintages. 

We have brought our love for European food from home to Black Oak where everyone can enjoy our family recipes, our famous dish, pierogi (pictured right) pronounced per-og-gi. A mouth watering Ukrainian dumpling filled with ricotta, potato and onion and served with a creamy mushroom sauce. 

Here at Black Oak we pride ourselves on making wholesome food where everything is made in house, just like Nana would have wanted.

We're not like every restaurant, we like to look at it as a large gathering just like a family dinner where Nana always said, “EAT, EAT, EAT”. No one leaves hungry.
